Before he goes one on one against the number one contender Johnny Hendricks for his next title defense, Ultimate Fighting Championship or the UFC Welterweight Championship holder Georges St. Pierre will go head to head against the legendary Captain America in the silver screen. The Canadian, who boasts of a squeaky clean image inside the UFC corridors, will be donning the cap of the bad man in the upcoming sequel to Captain America by Marvel Studios.
According to reports, Rush will play the role of Batroc, the Leaper in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Talks of the Canadian taking this role had been doing the rounds for quite some time, and last week, Marvel Studios confirmed the participation of the UFC Welterweight champion in the movie and released other details of the movie as well.
And the role is absolutely perfect for the Canadian superstar Georges St. Pierre. Batroc is a former member of the French Foreign Legion and is fluent in both English and French. He is a specimen of brute physical strength but doesn’t boast of any superhuman abilities. Not only that, Batroc is a brilliant hand to hand combat artist and is a weightlifter in the Olympic level as well and his name The Leaper stems from his ability to jump great distances due to the strength in his legs.
The movie is expected to hit the studio floors sometime in the near future and is expected to come out in the summer of 2014. Georges St. Pierre will act alongside the likes of Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Robert Redford.
St. Pierre, who is coming off his eighth successive defense of the title is expected to take on Johnny Hendricks in his next bout, although the time and place is yet to be announced.
Ultimate Fighting Championship or the UFC Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre might not have to lose sleep about a super fight against the UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva later this year if his prediction turns out to be right when the Brazilian takes on Chris Weidman in a match for the UFC Middleweight Championship at UFC 162 in July. According to Rush, Weidman is a very close friend of his and he sees him in training day in and day out and he believes Weidman will be the one to beat The Spider when the two meet.
Speaking to a local media outlet, the Canadian stated that in his opinion, the match was definitely not good for The Spider because not only will Weidman beat him hands down, he will also finish him as well. He went on to state that he doesn’t think the match will go on for too long and added that the people will be in for a shock.
Georges St. Pierre was having too much fun during the interview and so much so, he even insinuated that the undefeated Weidman, who has a record of 9-0 was coming off an injury and that might have prompted Anderson to accept the fight against him. He stated that Anderson Silva is extremely smart because he knows Weidman is coming off a long injury lay off and hasn’t had a competitive match in almost a year.
He went on to elaborate that the Brazilian might have thought the time couldn’t be better to take on Weidman and according to Georges St. Pierre, Weidman needs to ensure that he goes into the match with the utmost preparation and leave no stone unturned because Anderson Silva is cunning enough to expose any weakness that he sees in his opposition at once.
